Petition Build 100,000 council houses each year commencing 2014

In order to provide an adequate housing stock, we mandate the government to build annually 100,000 council houses starting in 2014 and each year thereafter until housing needs are met. We further mandate the government to instruct local authorities to build on brown sites first. These new houses would be excluded from the right to buy scheme. Rents for this housing stock must also be subject to rent controls that do not exceed 50% of the average rental costs of the United Kingdom.
