The Government has indicated that the Consumer Advice Bureaux and Trading Standards will take over all consumer protection functions; however the CABx are disappearing through lack of funding and Trading Standards are being cut to the extent that there is only one officer for every 15000 of the population.

The Goverment should set minimum standards for Councils and provide proper ring fenced funding for these services.
