Closed petition Seek closer political ties with Australia, Canada and New Zealand
Closed on
The British public's dissatisfaction with its relationship with our European neighbours must now be beyond doubt; however, in a world coming to be increasingly dominated by much larger, more populous countries, if we leave the EU it would be in our interests to seek a similar sort of multilateral alliance with other countries.
It is here proposed that Britain should seek to strengthen ties with Australia, New Zealand and Canada based on shared history, language, values, similar levels of development, and mere biological brotherhood.
This union could entail:
- a free trade zone
- freedom of movement
- sharing of Britain's permanent seat on the UN Security Council
- common immigration and foreign policy
- mutual support, responsibility and engagement
We ask that the government look into the possibility of creating a union along these lines.
