Rejected petition Release kidnapped Syrian religious leaders

More details

We, the undersigned,
noting that the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo Paul Yazigi, and Syrian Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo Yohanna Ibrahim were kidnapped on 22 April 2013 near Aleppo, and that Father Paolo Dall’Oglio, the head of the Monastery of St Moses the Abyssinian, Syria, was kidnapped on 26 July 2013 in Raqqa, Syria,
call on the UK Government
to demand their unconditional and immediate release;
to take all available non-military measures to identify who is holding them and where and to obtain their release;
to require, as a pre-condition for support of any kind by Her Majesty’s Government, that all groups in Syria opposed to the Assad Government, especially the Syrian National Council and the Free Syrian Army, (i) pledge their commitment to respect the right of religious freedom of worship for all in Syria whether Muslim or non-Muslim and (ii) take all necessary measures to achieve this in all areas that they may control.
