Rejected petition Marital desertion..is it fair?

More details

This petition deals with introduction of Restitution of Conjugal Rights (Right to stay together).

Is it fair for one spouse to leave the other without a reasonable cause and withdraw from the marriage at his/her convenience?

Should it not be a right of a wife/husband to know why has she been abandoned?

A British spouse gets married to a foreign national, brings her/him over and after a while leaves her/him without a reasonable cause, and there is nothing under the UK laws that the foreign spouse can do. Is this fair?

An abandoned spouse is stopped by the parents and even Police (if informed) from speaking to the other spouse if he denies to talk to deserted spouse. What can the deserted spouse do?

There are no laws in relation to marital desertion in the UK whereby the aggrieved party may approach the court for Restitution of Conjugal Rights.

Our plea is that “Restitution of Conjugal Rights” should be the way forward. Give the deserted spouse a ray of hope!
