Rejected petition Release and re-sentence remaining IPP prisoners

Release and Re-Sentence remaining IPP prisoners. IPP is an Imprisonment Public Protection order and was introduced in 2005 it enabled judges to set a minimum term, but no maximum term, to be served. IPPs were abolished in 2012 but there are 2,500 prisoners still under IPP with no release date.

More details

With an understanding that IPP has been abolished theres still 2,500 prisoners detained under the IPP sentences i believe that the government and Parliament have the power to change these laws, i know the Parole Board can make progress on this issue with intervention by government by reducing delays in holding hearings and by working closely with the prison and probation services to ensure arrangements for preparing and managing the release of prisoners is improved.
