Rejected petition Better consequences for women who are asked if they want kids at interviews.

I’d like there to be clearer guidelines on whether this is an acceptable question to ask. I feel as though women have a disadvantage whilst they are at childbearing age. Although this is unlawful, we still get asked this question.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The Government website clearly states that recruiters cannot ask about this in interviews. You can find this here: https://www.gov.uk/employer-preventing-discrimination/recruitment

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a petition calling for the Government to fund an awareness campaign about this issue, if this is something you would like to see happen.

You may be able to get further advice from ACAS: https://www.acas.org.uk/if-an-employer-says-you-cannot-apply-or-rejects-you-for-a-job/checking-if-you-were-discriminated

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
