Rejected petition Allow all pregnant women to be accompanied to appointments
Currently pregnant women have to attend appointments/scans alone. This is completely unacceptable especially considering groups of 6 can meet at a pub!
Have you considered the impact of going to a scan and being told your baby doesn't have a heartbeat?
What about equal rights for the father?
More details
Make it the law that all appointments may be attended by the mother plus one other person for support.
If everyone has to wear a mask anyway it doesn't make sense to exclude the father from these special, once in a lifetime moments.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Decisions about visitors are a matter for the NHS, not the Government or House of Commons.
On 5 June, the NHS’s suspension of hospital visiting was lifted. This means that visiting is now subject to local discretion by trusts and other NHS bodies. You should check with your maternity team and sonography unit for their policy on visitors attending antenatal appointments, including scans.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
