Let's save a power station or two....

The saving per month for every household at an average of 10 bulbs per house on for an average of 8 hours a day at a cost of 15p /kwh using LED @ 2w compared with standard incandescent at 50w is the following.

LED Cost: 72p / month / household
Incandescent: £18 / month / household

Taking the average of 25 million homes:

LED Cost to Run: £18 million
Incandescent Cost to Run: £450 million/month

If the government supplied the LED at cost of £500 million, there will be an immediate injection into the economy of 432 million into the economy.

Over the course of the year that is 5.1 billion of cash that is no longer tied up and can go towards other items or 'boost the economy'.. a ten times multiplier!

The carbon saving would be 750000 tonnes.
