To continue with the ludicrous 5 April tax year date flies in the face of economic common sense. No other country ON THE ENTIRE PLANET uses anything other than the 1 January start date for their financial year. To change ours to comply with international standards will allow us to dispose of THOUSANDS of HMRC employees and bring us into line with the rest of the planet.
