Rejected petition Change the takeaway option for restaurants and pubs to include takeaway alcohol

The takeaway option for pubs and restaurants in the Nov 2020 lockdown excludes alcohol off sales. This should be amended to include it as it was last time around

More details

The exclusion of alcohol in the takeaway option for hospitality puts publicans at a disadvantage. Many essential shops are selling alcohol. People are less likely to support their local pub or restaurant if they cannot buy takeaway alcohol to go with their meal. In the previous lockdown, alcohol was included in the takeaway option if it was sold in a sealed container and taken from the premises. Publicans have already ordered and paid for their November wet supplies which is just a waste.

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

The new regulations that have been put in place for the current lockdown allow licensed premises to sell alcohol provided this is pre-ordered by the customer: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1200/pdfs/uksi_20201200_en.pdf
