Petition Legislate for Electricity and Gas Tariff Simplification/Restriction

By signing this petition I am stating that the government should introduce a bill through parliament that will impose the following on energy companies supplying gas and electricity to UK households:

1) Restrict the number of tariffs that an energy offers to a maximum of 4 to remove confusion experienced by the public when comparing prices, namely;
# A gas tariff
# An electricity tariff
# A combined gas and electricity tariff
# A green tariff

2) Give the sector watchdog powers to prosecute/fine energy companies when their prices don't fall when "wholesale" energy costs fall.

3) Impose a limit on the number of price rises allowed in one 12 month period to a single price rise

4) Impose a limit on the level charges can increase above inflation.
