Rejected petition Review legislation to create equal opportunity in education for asylum seekers.

To get the attention of our local MP and have this taken to the Houses of Parliament. Where we can adopt new legislation and create equality for all those willing to contribute back to our society. Change to current legislation to allow asylum seekers the right to education before the 6 month ban.

More details

We would like to petition for asylum seekers to be given access to education opportunities sooner than the sixth month ban that the current policy stipulates. Our Aim: To get the attention of our local MP and have this taken to the Houses of Parliament. Where we can adopt new legislation and create equality for all those willing to contribute back to our society. Our mission:  Enforce fundamental human rights and show those who need our support that we are willing to give them what they deserve and what we as British citizens have always been entitled too. It is important to remember that for many fleeing, it is not a choice, but a necessity and the lengthy process does not reflect the true desperation of the situation migrants find themselves in.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about access to education for asylum seekers, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Asylum seeking children have the same rights to access school as other UK residents.

Access to education for adults will depend on the stage of an asylum seekers claim, and we could accept a petition calling for these arrangements to be changed, but you would need to clearly explain what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
