HS2 is going to cost billions which will reduce the time to get to cities such as Birmingham, Manchester etc. This money could be better spent on investing in British owned energy plants and, separately, enterprise within the areas that HS2 would have enabled faster travel to. This would be far more beneficial for UK PLC than letting foreign businesses take the profits overseas for the key parts of UK PLC that they own.
