Rejected petition Re-open local play parks in Mid Sussex and other areas

We need our local councils to reopen our play parks for our children. In many surrounding areas all play parks have been reopened after the lockdown however Mid Sussex Council have advised me that our local parks will not reopen.

More details

The mental and physical impact that covid restrictions is having on our children is unfair, play parks all around the country are open but mid sussex Council refuse to open ours due to the fact it would cost to much to maintain them. Not once have I seen anyone maintaning the open parks during this pandemic and this is a cop out. The 'big' parks that are open are over crowded and cause more of a concern that any of the small ones would. Our council tax should be spent on the things that matter.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

The Government has stated that outdoor playgrounds can remain open in all areas: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know

Deciding whether or how to reopen playgrounds is a matter for individual local authorities, not the Government or House of Commons.

You could raise this issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them: https://www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors

You can also petition your local council directly. Find out how to petition your council here: https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/about-the-council/have-your-say/petitions-to-the-county-council/

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
