Closed petition Save the old Birmingham Central Library
Closed on
We petition the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport to urgently intervene to stop the proposed demolition of the old Birmingham Central Library and to cancel the certificate of immunity from listing that was granted in 2011.
We believe that the old library should be given listed building status and preserved for future generations as one of the few remaining prominent examples of Brutalist architecture in central Birmingham.
It should be left to Birmingham City Council to find a new way of utilising the building now that the cities library has moved to its new site.
