Rejected petition Cancel IGCSEs in Summer 2021 in order to lower the unfairness across the country
Cancel IGCSEs public exams! The pandemic causes many losses to IGCSE students of this year. Mr Boris Johnson announced on 4th of January 2021 that all exams in summer 2021 have been cancelled and made an alternative measurement for students to lower the unfairness, which also includes GCSEs.
More details
Cancel IGCSEs summer 2021 is the only method for lowering the unfairness and ensuring every single student will be able to be assessed in the same position. COVID-19 is a global pandemic that affects people across the world, especially in the UK. Schools are closed for the majority of students for weeks and weeks. Remote learning isn’t working the best for every single person, as some hasn’t got devices. It’s absolutely unfair that IGCSE students still have to face the public exams as normal!

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Decisions about courses and assessments that are delivered by independent educational institutions, as opposed to state schools, are a matter for individual exam boards and educational institutions, not the Government or House of Commons.
We could accept a petition calling for the Government to prohibit any exams from taking place during the Covid-19 outbreak, if that is something you want to happen.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: https://www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
