Rejected petition Restrict key workers to essential workers only as defined by the March lockdown

Reinstate the restrictions from March and bring back the March definition of a ‘key worker’. Too many non-essential workers are going to work. The guidance is saying lockdown, act like you have the virus and stay at home. Then on the other hand it’s saying go to work if you can’t work from home.

More details

The NHS is on the brink of collapse and we now have a more transmissible variant of the virus. As a result of the extensive ‘key worker’ list more people are required to work in person during this lockdown which causes unnecessary mixing. This also puts additional strain on public transport and schools which has already been reported this week. The lockdown should be more effective by reinstating the restrictions we saw in March and allowing only ‘essential workers’ to go to work.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not exactly sure what action you'd like the Government or Parliament to take. The list of critical workers was used to identify who could continue to send their children to school, but not for whether or not people could go to work, if they couldn't work from home.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition calling for certain businesses to be closed, if that's what you'd like to see.
