Rejected petition Ensure a safe and clean environment for Asylum Seekers in and around Yarl’s Wood
Those living in temporary accommodation both next to and in Yarl’s Wood in Bedford as well as near barracks site in Kent need not only a clean, but safe and not overcrowded environment/ accommodation regardless of whether it’s temporary, particularly during the current pandemic.
More details
Those seeking asylum in the UK should not leave their home countries as they are unsafe only to arrive in a “hostile environment” (as said by Mohammad Yasin, MP). They shouldn’t be put into overcrowded and unhygienic accommodation to the point that they feel a hunger strike is necessary (as has happened in the barracks site in Kent) we should be providing these people with safe environments, not in environments that are unsafe and could be especially damaging to the mental health of many there.
