Rejected petition Reduce timeframe insurance companies can use expired points against motorists

currently if you receive points that expire in 3 years insurance companies demand to inform them for 5 years.
This is just a way to boost premiums.
Points valid for 3 years stay on licence for 4 only for court information, a driver should not have to declare them once they reach the expiry date.

More details

if points have expired why should driver be penalised for expired points by paying a higher premium on their insurance for 2 extra years.

points expire after 3 years but insurance companies require 5 years of information which means drivers pay for their points for an extra 2 years when they do exist on the license.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Decisions about what information individual motor insurance companies require before granting insurance policies is a matter for individual insurers, not the Government or House of Commons.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
