Rejected petition Introduce 2 extra bank holidays for national mourning of COVID related deaths
Introduce 2 extra bank holiday days as days of national mourning on 2nd and 3rd of September before children return to school and when Covid is likely to be better managed.
More details
There have been currently 100,000 COVID related deaths in the UK. Families have not been able to be with their loved ones when they have passed and they have not been allowed to grieve in the normal way. The impact COVID restrictions and COVID related deaths has had on the nations mental health is immense and the cost this will have on the NHS will be huge both financially and practically. Two days of mourning will allow people to stop and reflect and grieve.
