I would like to propose that volunteering for officially recognized, registered charities should count as a charity donation for tax purposes.

This would mean that, for example, individuals that work a certain number of hours at a charity shop are able to list on their tax return a donation of an amount as calculated by the number of hours worked in volunteering capacity times at least the minimum wage, when supported by authorised and authenticated timesheets to prevent abuse.
