Rejected petition NGOs and Charities to pay tax like corporations

Often the tax loop hole is used to avoid taxes by NGOs and charities. Billionaires channel money between their foundations to avoid taxes that we the people have to pick up.Such organisations should be open to the same taxes as corporations inlight of the scandals that have taken part in past years

More details

With the country needing greater funds to support furlough and loan schemes to support businesses over the pandemic. All which are provided to support charities therefore they should have the same taxation. We're all in this together

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about NGOs and charities being used to avoid tax liability, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Most commercial businesses have to pay Corporation Tax on their profits, but NGOs and charities are not-for-profit organisations, so there are no profits that could be taxed in this way.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, we could accept a petition calling on the Government to tax the income of all NGOs and charities, but it would need to be clear what rate you wanted this to be taxed at.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
