This petition was submitted during the 2010-2015 parliament
Petition Call to have elected senior civil servants in office.
More details
At the moment it is Members of Parliament (MP) and local authority councillors that are subject to election and re-election where elections exist to place in office trusted individuals to look after the nation's and local affairs.
Civil Servants (like local council chief executives) are currently not subject to being elected to the office they serve. Some senior civil servants working on behalf of councillors and MPs fail in their duties and continue to do so with impunity, where peoples' lives are adversely affected by their decisions.
This petition is simply to call for senior civil servants to be subject to election and re-election as are MPs, regional and local councillors.
