Rejected petition Dog theft - to be criminalised to kidnap

For so many dogs are like children. People become emotionally connected to their dog and if one is stolen it is like losing a child.

I want dog theft to reflect the laws of kidnap with similar penalties and a similar police response.

I have met people who have had their pets stolen and the mental and emotional stress on them has been immense the criminal fraternity see this as a non impact crime to them (they will not be caught and if caught no penalty) this attitude needs to be reversed
