Rejected petition Allow under 16's to run a business without a licence for pocket money.
To allow children under 16's to run a business like washing a car or selling refreshments without a licence or any added costs for pocket money so they can earn money to save up for something that they want for eg: games. I personally do chores for money and save up for something like a controller.
More details
I would like the government to do this so that children who want to save up money for something can and it stops parents giving money to them for free. I personally do chores at home and I am saving up for a controller. Allowing kids to do this will help them understand the value of money and they understand they have to work hard for it and it will give kids something to do when they are bored on a weekend. This will also make children gain skills for the future for when they get a job.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand you are concerned about restrictions on children earning pocket money by providing certain services. However, under many circumstances no license is required for a child providing such services, especially if they are conducted from your home or garden. It is therefore not clear what specific action you would like the Government to take.
In any case, what you are allowed to sell and where varies from one area to the next, so you should check with your local council what is allowed without a business license. You can find contact details for Redbridge Council here: https://www.redbridge.gov.uk/contact-us/.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
