Rejected petition Make Whistleblowing & responding a contractual obligation for Healthcare staff
Protect passionate Healthcare staff who dedicate their lives to the care of others by making it a contractual obligation for clinical staff to Whistleblow, and especially for managerial staff to investigate, resolve, & report on the concerns raised & make the same reports available for scrutiny.
More details
The current regulatory systems contain multiple obligations to report & respond to concerns, but, they haven't achieved their objective with whistleblowers being victimised with open hostility, confirmed by Sir Robert Francis in his report & later reviews. Thereafter self-directed honesty has failed time & time again. This mandate could be incorporated into The Public Information Disclosure (protection) Bill or The Office for Whistleblower Bill which are currently in the Parliamentary Process.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.
The specific content of healthcare professionals’ contracts is a matter for the NHS or their employer, not the UK Government or Parliament. The Government is therefore not responsible for imposing specific contractual obligations on healthcare workers.
You could start a petition calling for the introduction of a legal obligation on healthcare professionals to whistleblow, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
