Rejected petition Give first-time buyers offer’s priority over non-first-time buyers

The extension of the stamp-duty holiday has yet again incentivised those with strong financials, or existing available equity to re-invest into property, creating a situation where first-time buyers must compete with stronger or “equal” offers.

Give first-time buyers offers legal priority.

More details

The government has promised to help first-time buyers get onto the housing market, yet over the last 12 months the demand for housing has soared, this may be a positive for the “housing market” but for the millions of individuals, couples and families looking to buy their first home, they must watch on as affordable housing is bought up as investments.

If first-time buyers make an equal or close-to-equal offer (<1.5%), they should be given legal priority over non-first-time buyers.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Deciding whether to accept an offer on a property is a matter for individual sellers, not the Government or House of Commons.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
