Rejected petition Stop Surrey’s Largest illegal waste dump (Stoney Castle, Pirbright GU24 0DL)
Every day thousands of tonnes of waste is illegally dumped at this site. The site is a special area of conservation (SAC), Special Protection Area (SPA) and a site of special scientific interest (SSSI). In 2015 Surrey County Council issued an Enforcement notice prohibiting importation of waste.

Surrey County Council is the Prosecuting authority in this matter and is the only organisation who can take criminal action against people who breach their notice and continue to illegally dump waste.
Cllr Mike Goodman wrote to MP Theresa Villers: “the site continues to be used to dispose of waste materials, However there has been no action to prosecute any of the individuals involved for waste activities and I fear, that unless and until this happens activity at this site will not cease”
