Rejected petition Improve sexual education, teach it younger and talk about more pressing issues.

Sex education has always been lacking in the UK with poor information which doesn’t talk about important things such as pleasure, stereotypes etc. Additionally, sexual assault isn’t discussed so people don’t understand a lot of it and people grow up not knowing what is or isn’t sexual assault.

More details

The lack of education and information spread causes so many misconceptions which can be harmful later in life.
Additionally, children aren’t talked to about sex education young enough. Year 7 should be the year that sex education is taught in detail and there should be a mandatory week dedicated to sex education and it should be this way up until students are in year 10.

The Government's new Relationships and Sex Education curriculum, which is mandatory in all state schools from this year, requires that students are now taught about key aspects of the law relating to sex, which include the age of consent, what consent is and is not, the definitions and recognition of rape, sexual assault and harassment, and that sexual violence and sexual harassment are not acceptable: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/relationships-education-relationships-and-sex-education-rse-and-health-education/relationships-and-sex-education-rse-secondary
