Petition Update Mobile hardware patent laws
More details
Patents on mobile hardware (and a lesser extent software) are a powerful way for companies to protect their own interests and products.
But when used to dramatic effect in a court of law they only have winners and losers and these are the lawyers (winners) and end users(losers).
I propose a review of the patent laws surrounding mobile hardware.
Mobiles are fast moving and fantastic products that have been embraced by nearly everyone the world over and these devices change rapidly.
I suggest the law reflect this fast paced would.
First year of patent: exclusive use by the patent holder.
Second year (can be extended to include the first year also): Rights of use can be sold to other companies. But other companies are free to design their own version. (copy not clone)
Third year onwards: Can be used, copied, cloned by all.
