Rejected petition Prevent and issue consequences for threatening behaviour towards women online.
I ask the government that these types of messages need to have consequences which should be discussed further. I would like actions such as deleting their social media accounts, fining them and exposing their names. Quite clearly existing ‘laws’ against this are ineffective. It needs to change.
More details
Examples of such behaviour is easy to find on social media. Within 24 hours of ‘The Guardian’ releasing a social media post about 97% of women in the UK being sexually harassed, comments such as these were written by men… “as they deserve”, “Damn, I thought we got them all where that 3% hiding”, “almost there 3% to go boys”. How do we tolerate such behaviour to circulate on social media and what does this say to the future generation of young, vulnerable girls. There has to be a change now.
