Rejected petition Establish cut-off date for changing dates for State Pension receipt
Introduction of an age cut-off point (55 years) after which the Government cannot change the date on which individuals receive their State Pension. Age 55 is the key date for individuals being able to take tax free lumps sums and is the date at which most individuals plan for their retirement.

As we know, past generations have been left with financial plans in ruins as the Government moved the goals posts and pushed out dates when they would receive their State Pension. All financial planning for retirement includes the State Pension and this should be guaranteed from age 55 onwards with no adverse impact on the date that it will be received.
This petition requests that the Government introduce age 55 as the point in which individuals’ State Pension award date CANNOT be altered.
