Rejected petition Legislation for 33% of all domestic-abuse funding to be for male victims.

ONS figures: 1.6 million women and 757,000 men experienced domestic abuse in 2020, yet there is not a single refuge for male victims and many domestic abuse centres, despite paying lip service to supporting male victims, do not. Hence the need for new legislation to ensure support for male victims.

More details

Councils give funding for domestic abuse centres and refuges to support all victims but, despite claiming otherwise, most only support females; forcing males to sleep rough or stay in B&Bs/hotels, even with kids, and zero support – clear, A-moral gender bias.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Decisions on how to allocate funding for domestic abuse services is a matter for individual local authorities.

You could have a petition asking for the Government to require local authorities to fund specific domestic abuse services for men, or to increase funding for domestic abuse services for men, if those are things you want the Government to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
