Petition Review UK Foreign Aid to China
More details
It is reported that the UK government gave over £27 million of aid to China last year [http://bit.ly/1cwqw7b].
The UK is currently suffering a financial crisis and working families around the UK are bearing pressures of continued government spending cuts.
Meanwhile China, the world’s 2nd largest economy with a current GDP of $8.3 trillion, has more than $3.6 trillion in foreign currency reserves [http://bit.ly/1k7RoBi], has just landed a rover on the Moon and will complete its space station by 2020 [http://bit.ly/1c6Oqew].
Whilst the UK should be proud of its commitment to improving the lives of people around the world, it is nothing short of crazy that the UK continues to pour aid money into China.
We the undersign call on the Government and International Development Secretary to urgently review the aid provided to China by the UK government. Where the government believes aid is justified we expect full details regarding how the money is allocated and spent.
