Petition Change The Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Composition) Regulations 2012 so that fine animal hairs must be individually noted on product labels

The Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Composition) Regulations 2012 state "The fibre name 'wool' can be used to describe either fibre obtained from sheep's or lambs' fleeces or a mixture of such fibres and certain fine animal hairs (viz alpaca, llama, camel, cashmere, mohair, angora, vicuna, yak, guanaco, beaver, otter)."

We hereby request that the government make the relevant changes to these Regulations so that 'fine animal hairs' can not be included under the blanket term 'wool' and must be individually noted on product labels. You must let consumers make a conscious decision on whether to buy a product which contains 'fine animal hairs' such as angora which is known to cause immense suffering to the animal.
