Rejected petition Allow Student Midwives who have trained elsewhere in the UK to work in Wales!

Allow midwives who haven’t trained in Wales to work in welsh hospitals and have equal opportunities to jobs.

More details

We are student midwives who’ve been studying away from home in England. We are due to qualify in September and have been informed we will not be granted equal opportunity to midwife jobs as we have trained in England. We have lived in Wales all our lives and an opportunity arouse in England 3 years ago which we immediately took as we wanted to follow our dreams to become a midwife. This is discrimination due to not training in wales and we believe we deserve an equal opportunity!

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Decisions about recruitment of midwives in Wales is a matter for NHS Wales, and the Welsh Government is responsible for most policy regarding healthcare in Wales, not the UK Government or House of Commons.

The Welsh Parliament has its own Petitions Committee. If you'd like to send your petition to the Welsh Parliament, you can find out more here: https://petitions.senedd.wales/

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
