Rejected petition Stop housing development on burial site at Park Hospital Bridgend

The burial site at the former mental health hospital is a mass grave of over 2000 previous patients who weren't given the dignity of a decent funeral when they died, and now these plans to develop this land for housing development will lead to their bodies being "relocated".

More details

This is a terrible reminder of the scandalous way we used to treat mental health patients in this country and to let this happen now would be outrageously disrespectful and only show how far we haven't come when it comes to our attitudes to mental health.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

Local planning decisions are a matter for the relevant local authority, not the Government or House of Commons. As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.

You could raise this issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them: https://www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
