Closed petition informing drivers disqualified in absence
Closed on
Driving while disqualified, is a very serious offence that can lead to a custodial sentence, but do you realise it is possible to get sentenced and disqualified in your absence,
this petition is about the correct way of informing drivers that they are now disqualified. hundreds of drivers could be driving while disqualified risking prison and have no idea,
i think if a court is to disqualify in absence then the courts should do more than simply send a letter, it should at the very least be sent recorded delivery, or maybe delivered by an officer of the court or a police officer.
as the offence and punishment is so serious, the informing of offenders should be of importance
