Rejected petition Don't disenfranchise disabled voters by legislating for the use of photo ID.
The Government should drop plans to legislate for the use of photo ID at polling stations.
More details
The Government are at rick of disenfranchising disabled voters.
Many people with disabilities do not have photo ID. Many disabled people have conditions that mean they are not able to drive and are therefore not in possession of a driving licence. There are also large numbers of people with disabilities who are living on low incomes meaning that they can not afford the luxury of purchasing a passport.
Physical impairment or poverty should not be barriers to accessing democratic rights.
