Closed petition Raise magistrates sentencing limitation from 6months to 5 years

It is absurb that magistrates have their arms tied in tis way, resulting in either much too lenient sentencing or having to refer cases up to Crown Courts, thus clogging up the country's legal system & adding significantly to costs.

With the current situation witnesses, including police officers & other public service workers are kept away from their normal tasks all day just to told that they are not being heard that day.
