Closed petition Fighting Luton Library Closures by unelected, unaccountable Luton Cultural Services Trust & apathetic Luton Borough Council

Closed on

Luton Borough Council has delegated the running of the town's library service to Luton Cultural Services Trust (LCST), an organisation which runs as a charity with unelected officers in charge.

LCST receives millions of pounds from Luton Airport from gift aid specifically for libraries plus funds from LBC in order to provide ' library services for the whole town. Trevor Holden, CEO of LBC, has confirmed in writing that the Council do not receive detailed accounts.

We would like the Government to take the following action:-

To instruct LSCT and LBC to cancel the planned Wigmore, Sundon Park and mobile library closures.

LBC and LSCT to be instructed by the Dept, of Culture to continue to provide this statutory library service for the whole town.

To make LCST accountable for the money they have received and spent and be forced to provide detailed accounts for the council and public to see.
