Petition Repeal of whole life sentencing and proposals for 100-year sentences
More details
We the undersigned believe that whole life sentences and proposals for 100-year tariffs under consideration by the Government are "illegal and cruel punishments" and should not be pursued by the Government.
The 1689 Bill of Rights expressly states that "illegal and cruel punishments" are "utterly and directly contrary to the known laws and statutes and freedom of this realm".
Whole life tariffs and 100-year sentences are cruel because they provide no possibility of rehabilitation or probation into society.
