Rejected petition Extend paternity leave to up to 52 weeks.
Allow paternity leave to be negotiable to the employer so that men can have up to 52 weeks leave.
More details
At present men have only 2 weeks maximum leave for childcare; we want for men to have negotiable childcare leave so the couples can share time at home and work. In the current system women with children have to take far more time off of work to look after children, this leads to men having more job opportunities in work and to men being employed over women who are "likely" to have children.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about existing rights to paternity leave, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Your petition calls for 52 weeks of leave for new fathers, but refers to this as being "negotiable". Employees are already able to seek additional leave from employers, and employers can offer paternity leave beyond the statutory minimum. Fathers may also be able to take time off under Share Parental Leave: https://www.gov.uk/shared-parental-leave-and-pay
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
