Petition Prevent companies from misusing words (e.g. unlimited) by adding a contradictory clause in the small print
More details
We are requesting that the government takes action to prevent companies from misusing words in their marketing campaigns by adding a contradictory clause in the small print.
A common instance of this is internet service providers that claim to offer unlimited usage for their services, yet their small print usually always refers to an "acceptable usage policy" which clearly defines a hard usage limit. This is a total contradiction to their 'unlimited' claim and is nothing more than mis-selling.
This practise is now frequently used by many companies and needs it needs to be controlled as it is misleading and confusing for consumers.
