Rejected petition Restart river dredging to ease effect of future floods
Reinstate river dredging it will also make our waterways safer & more appealing for boats to use by limiting the potential damage to the boats... it would create more revenue to pay for the dredging
More details
We have since March 2019 lived & run a business beside the river Severn in Worcester, in this time our business has experienced 10 floods.
So many peoples lives are affected by these floods & not all can be protected by barriers... If dredging the waterways is reinstated this will help to ease the impact of future floods & in the long run save the Government a lot of money.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Dredging and the removal of silt and sand from main rivers is regulated under the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010, but decisions about dredging of individual rivers is a matter for individual local authorities and the Environment Agency, not the Government or House of Commons.
If you are concerned about management of the River Severn you could contact the Environmen Agency directly about this: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/environment-agency
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
