Rejected petition Make it a requirement to air abuse hotlines after & during televised football.
The Govt. should pass a law requiring all broadcasters of televised football to air domestic abuse adverts during ad breaks and after England football games.
More details
The vast majority of football in the UK is consumed via television, whether it be at bars or at home. After each England loss, cases of domestic abuse rise by around 35% to 40%. As providers of media in which these cases can be attributed to, TV channels should be held accountable to some extent in ensuring the safety of viewers and those close to the viewer, in order to help reduce the strain on police and fire services, and to protect the public.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This is a matter for broadcasters and Ofcom.
We could accept a petition calling for the Government to fund a domestic abuse awareness campaign to coincide with major football tournaments, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
