Rejected petition Ban the Burqa

We the undersigned feel that the full face Islamic veil, aside from having no basis in the religion it purports to be a symbol of, is an oppressive garment that cuts off the wearer from the outside world and serves only to reinforce the inferior position of women in Islam. We must ban this ridiculous anachronism to draw a line under equality of the sexes in western liberal democracies and expose those who endorse the burqa as the extremists they are.
