Rejected petition It is our right to be presumed innocent and to continue to be able to work.

More details

The recent trend in political posturing is to act immediately upon any charge being raised by the police against an individual - people are suspended from their jobs and from any roles or office they hold (they are presumed guilty).
There is currently no recourse or protection from this.
The right to be presumed innocent is of vital importance to a tolerant civilised society.
Your employment (and liberty) should continue up to the moment of any guilt being confirmed.
Most charges will go on to be PROVEN INNOCENT.
I assert that employers should be obliged to adopt an assumption of "innocence" and they should not be allowed to take any action against the employee as a result of charges being raised (but guilt not yet proven).
