The vat was increased circa 2007 due to the economic crisis facing the UK from 17.5% to 20%.

We the undersigned do ask you to reduce the VAT currently at an extortionate rate of 20% down to 15% in order to financialy reward / help the workers of Britain for cooperating with you during the financial crisis and the double dip reccesion, if 15% is unrealistic we demand you reduce it to 17.5% as it was pre 2007.

we can see no viable reasons to keep it at the inflated 20% except greed.
